John T. "J.T." Griffin III

November 5, 1945 ~ July 17, 2019 (age 73)

John Thomas “J.T.” Griffin, 73 of Gaylord, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at MediLodge, Gaylord, MI, following an extended illness of exposure to Agent Orange.

He was born November 5, 1945 in Gallipolis, OH, son of the late John Thomas Griffin Jr. and Eve Moore Griffin.

John was a Navy veteran serving on the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) – The Ageless Warrior in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Marilynn Redmond Griffin; his children, John Thomas (Molly) Griffin IV of Novato, CA and Katherine Elizabeth (Nathan) Wheeler of Hanna City, IL; grandchildren, John T. “Jack” Griffin V, Michael Patrick Griffin of Novato, CA and Griffin Dexter Wheeler of Hanna City, IL.

Also surviving are  brothers and sisters, William Russell (Collene) Griffin of Lexington, KY, Terrence Patrick Griffin of Scappoose, OR, Joseph Urban (Yvonne) Griffin of Portland, OR, Christopher Moore Griffin (Paul Hinders) of Bexley, OH, Anthony Thaddeus Griffin of Bridgeport, WV, Matthew Lewis Chester-Griffin (Jerry Chester-Griffin) of Athens, OH, Patrick Michael Griffin of Sarasota, FL, Maria Teresa (George) Holdershaw of Denver, CO, Brian David (Susan) Griffin of Fairfield, OH, Angela Regina (David) Gilliam of Barton, AK, and Megan Elizabeth (Jeffery) Lawton of Brighton, MI; and many extremely smart, adventurous and fun loving nieces and nephews living throughout the United States.

J.T. was preceded in death by brothers, Kevin Rory Griffin and Barry Fitz Stephen Griffin.

He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Gaylord, MI where a memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, August 16, 2019 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church with The Reverend Pamela Lynch officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Andrew Memorial Fund, VFW Post 1518 Building Fund and 4 For Paw Love.
