Barbara Jean Goszczynski

Barbara Jean Goszczynski entered this world on August 6, 1936 to Charles and Lucille Eaton of South Bend Indiana. She had one brother, Robert.

Barbara attended grade school at St. Matthews Elementary School and graduated from Riley High School in 1955.

She worked at the family's grocery from an early age until her marriage to Clement J. Goszczynski on Sept. 3 1956 at St. Matthews Catholic Church.  Her death ended their 64 year union.

Barb and Clem had 4 children, Julia Marie (Dieter) Hugel, Charlene Ann Goszczynski, Glen Allan (Tammy) Goszczynski and Patricia Lynne (Charles) Spear.  She is also survived by Glen and Tammy’s sons, her grandsons, Erick and Ryan.

They lived in South Bend until 1967, when Clem's job took them to Michigan, where they landed in Royal Oak and settled in Southfield in1969.

Barbara was an excellent cook and outstanding homemaker.  She took great pride in “holding down the fort” while her husband Clem traveled the world as part of his job.

She loved children and being a stay at home Mom, becoming a licensed babysitter providing daycare to infants and children in the family home.  “Mrs. G.” to all, she was a confidant, someone you could go to with a problem.  With her common sense approach to life, her humor and her wise counsel, she was there to give you a hug around the neck, a pat on the back or kick in the butt, depending on the situation.

Barb and Clem retired to Gaylord in 1993 where she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.   She enjoyed walking at the Sportsplex and hunting for treasures in resale shops.

She left this world on July 29, at home with family and Max, by her side.  A celebration of her life will be held later.
