Gary Jay Kimberly, 86 of Gaylord, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2019 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village in Gaylord.

Born on May 26, 1933 in Cheboygan, Gary was the son of Ceryl and Pearl (Buvia) Kimberly.  He grew up in Detroit where he graduated from Cass Tech High School, where he was captain of the basketball team and class president.

Gary served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953-1957, after which he began a long and successful career with SPX Corporation.  With SPX he was a senior executive and director of their Auto Dealerships Dealer Equipment Program.  With interests worldwide, his career with SPX afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the world as director of all offshore operations.

Gary was an avid golfer who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Euchre and visiting area casinos.  A true family man, he enjoyed his children and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife, G. Jean Kimberly; his daughters, Sheri (Dennis Sallee) Kimberly, Kathy Uzelac both of Gaylord and a stepson, Wayne (Kathy) Thompson; grandchildren, Cole Nawrot, Kayla Uzelac, Michael (Elizabeth) Uzelac, Nic Thompson, Erik Thompson, Jasmine (Alex) Wong and Gary J. Kimberly III; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly (Phil) McCarty of Ponte Vedra, FL.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Kimberly and a son, Gary J. Kimberly II.

Gary will be interred privately at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Gaylord Area Junior Golf Association (G.A.J.U.G.A.), P.O. Box 3069, Gaylord, MI  49734
