Jeffery Alan Dawson

Jeffery Alan Dawson, 67, of Alanson, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Born on February 14, 1953 in Kearny Township, Jeff was the son of Harmon Stanley and Frieda Elaine (Veldkamp) He grew up in Grand Blanc, MI and graduated in 1970 from Grand Blanc High School, later receiving his associates degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern Michigan College.

During the Vietnam era, Jeff served in the U.S Army as a Military Police (MP) officer in Germany with the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.

For over 30 years, Jeff worked as an Engineer in the Tool & Die industry for Circuit Controls Corporation (Yazaki North America), taking great pride in his industry, his craftsmanship, and the friendships he made in his colleagues.

Jeff was a devout born-again Christian. He read and studied his Bible daily since having been “saved” during his stint in the Army in the 1970s, and he lived a fulfilled life knowing the new life that waited for him in Heaven.

Jeff was an incredible craftsman, fabricator, and jack-of-all trades. He could fix anything, and he could build anything! Jeff loved tools, muscle cars, leatherworking, hunting, sketching, woodworking, being outside, and Harley-Davidsons, owning several since his early twenties. Most importantly, Jeff loved his family, his grandchildren in particular, and he was a proud “Papa.”

Jeff and Paula (Deiss) married at Carmel by the Sea, California. Along with Paula, Jeff will be missed by his sisters, Judy Dawson and Silvia Troy as well as his five children, Jason Dawson, Jessica Dieter, Shia Noth, Joshua Dawson, Jillian Shaw and his nine beautiful grandchildren.

The family is planning a memorial gathering with burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, services will be announced later.
