Joanne M. Meldrum, 86 of Gaylord, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Woodland Acres in Gaylord.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 30, 1934, she was the daughter of Chester and Josephine (Rademacher) Meldrum.

Joanne received her bachelor’s degree from Dominican College of Racine in Wisconsin.  As a teacher, she taught in Wisconsin and in Detroit both in public and in Catholic schools before moving to Gaylord, where she taught at St. Mary’s School.

Joanne and a group of other St. Mary’s teachers opened Chicken Delights, a restaurant in Grayling, where she worked as a chef.

She also worked at K-Byte in Gaylord, operated a photography business and worked as a nanny for local resident, Mary Fox’s family.

In her spare time, Joanne enjoyed photography, watercolor painting, skiing and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert (Geraldine) and James (Vern) Meldrum and her lifetime friend, Clarice Wester.

Joanne was the beloved Aunt to 11 nieces and nephews; and to her dear extended family Mary, Pete & Katie Amar-Fox of Gaylord.

In keeping with her wishes, a graveside service and interment will take place in Belgium, Wisconsin.
