Pamela M. Syrett

Pamela M. Syrett, 74 of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at The Brook in Grayling.

Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on March 16, 1946, she was the daughter of Forrest and Roslyn (Hewitt) Doerr.

Pam spent her youth in Lewiston where he parents operated a resort.  After high school, she went on to Alpena Community College where she received her associate degree.

While attending college in Alpena, she met her future husband, Donn Syrett.  They married in his hometown, Rogers City, on September 3, 1966.  After living in Ypsilanti for a few years, Donn and Pam moved to Gaylord in 1971.

Pam worked for a number of years in the billing department at Old Kent Bank, though her focus was on her family and her faith.  She was an active member at the Gaylord E-Free Church for more than 40 years, where she taught Inductive Studies for many years and where she was also a deaconess.  Several years ago she fulfilled her long time dream to travel with her church family to Israel.

In her spare time, Pam enjoyed crafts, including embroidery, cross stitch and sewing.  She also always enjoyed family camping trips.  Pam took pride in the home that she both designed and decorated; where there was a place for everything, and everything was in its place.

Pam is survived by Donn, her husband of almost 54 years; her daughters, Heather (Todd) and Melissa (Skeet); grandchildren, Alaini (Caleb) and Alex (Kennedy); one great grandchild, soon to arrive; and her many cousins and close friends.

Pam’s family will visit with friends beginning at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Gaylord E-Free Church where services will follow at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Intelicare Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
