Laraine M. Gapinski

Laraine M. Gapinski, 71 of Gaylord, passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness, with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

Born in Johannesburg, MI on August 11, 1946, Laraine was the daughter of Raymond and Agnes (Long) Moore.

On February 9, 1963 she married Aloysius J. Gapinski at St. Mary Church in Gaylord.

Laraine worked for many years at Mayfair Plastics, the Vanderbilt Auto Auction and as the manager at the Oven Fresh Bakery Store.

She loved to spend time with her family.  In her younger years she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bowling and watching birds.  She and Aloysius enjoyed traveling and visiting area casinos.

Laraine was a very loving wife, mother and friend.  She will be deeply missed; there is emptiness for her family without her here, but she will be with her Lord and Savior for eternity.

In addition to her husband, Aloysius, Laraine is survived by her four children, Steve (Lona) Gapinski of Gaylord, Joni (Mike) Rusnell of Stevensville, MT, Martin (Karen) Gapinski of Gaylord and Richie Gapinski of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Brock) Dotts, Shane (Alyssa) Gapinski, Jeremy (Jasmine) Rusnell and Ryan, Dakota, Jennifer and Brooke Gapinski; one great granddaughter, Scarlett Gapinski; brothers, Michael Moore and Dan (Brenda) Moore of Johannesburg, Steve (Nancy) Moore of Southfield and Tony (Jan) Moore of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.

Laraine’s family will visit with friends from 4:00-8:00 PM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 PM .  A Mass of Christian Burial will be take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Cathedral or Compassus Hospice.
