Barbara Jean Anderson

Barbara Jean Anderson, 62 of Johannesburg, passed away at home on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

 Born in Traverse City, Michigan on July 14, 1961, she is the daughter of Robert and Janet (Struble) Underwood.  She grew up in Traverse City and graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1979.

 In 1981, Barbara and Michael Anderson were married in Traverse City, where they lived and raised their two children.  In 1990 they opened Furniture Masters & Junker’s Corner Antiques, a furniture restoration business in Traverse City, which they operated until 2022.  In December of 2022 they moved from Traverse City to Johannesburg.

 Barbara enjoyed antiquing, painting, drawing, and traveling.  Family and friends will remember her love of storytelling.

 She is survived by Mike, her husband of more than 42 years; her children, Tyler Anderson and Amber Anderson, both of Traverse City; and her parents, Robert and Janet Underwood of Traverse City.

 In keeping with her wishes, her family will remember her privately and a memorial gathering will be held later.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family.
