Bettejune Croff Diot, 84 of Pellston, passed away at home on Friday, June 28, 2019, surrounded by her children whom she taught many valuable lessons about dignity and courage.

Born on November 5, 1934 in Flint, she was the daughter of George and Berneath (Robbins) Vesely.

A longtime resident of Pellston, Bettejune was never one to sit idle.  For many years she was active in local government as the Pellston Village Clerk and Treasurer and later as McKinley Township Clerk.  Also in Pellston, she owned and operated Betka’s Café for eight years and she worked at the Brass Rail at the Pellston Airport.

Bettejune also worked at ABC Secretarial and other secretarial services, as a cook at Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians Tribal Head Start and she sold real estate at Century 21 Realtors in Petoskey.

In retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending winters in the Rio Grande Valley.  She was also an avid reader.

Bettejune was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Croff in 1992 and William Diot in 2018.  Surviving are her children, Richard (Debra) Croff of Lakeland, FL, Melodi (Daniel) VanPelt of Brutus, Robin (Jeffrey) Summers of Alanson and Gordon (Kimberly) Croff of Brutus; step children, Michael (Phyllis) Diot of Mississippi, Darcy (Julie) Diot of Muskegon, Steven (Tonya) Diot of Marysville and Cheri Diot of Marysville; grandchildren, Courtney, Dawn, Daniel, Hailey, Jeffrey, Joseph, Cody and Brooke; nine great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and four step-grandchildren; and a sister, Imogene Drier of Douglas Lake and her family.  She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley VanPelt.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2019 at McKinley Township Cemetery with Rev. Nancy Wood officiating.
