Blanche A. Hankins

Blanche Arlene Wormell Hankins, 89 of Petoskey, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

Born on July 6, 1932 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of George and Blanche (Levitt) Berger.

Blanche worked at Petoskey Steam Laundry and later in medical records at Burns Clinic.  She was a member of Epsilon United Methodist Church. 

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, watching the birds and deer in her yard, going to TOPS with friends, flowers, holidays, and picnics with family and friends.

She was married first to Don Wormell, with whom she had six children.  After Don preceded her in death, Blanche married again later, to Gene Hankins.  He too preceded her in death, as did her parents; sons, Allen and Craig Wormell; and a grandson, Treavor Wormell.

Blanche is survived by her children, Diane (Mike) MacLachlan of Petoskey, Susan Paxton of Petoskey, Doran (Cora Lynn) Wormell of Kansas and Bryce Wormell of Michigan; and more than 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank McLaren Hospice and Hiland Cottage for taking such good care of Arlene, as they always called her,  in her final days.

A memorial service will be held in early June with burial at Curtiss Cemetery.
