Bruce J. Boss

Bruce John Boss of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away peacefully Monday, September 29, 2025, at home. He was a highly regarded, award-winning teacher and professor of social science for over 40 years, having taught at Groves High School in Birmingham, Michigan and General Motors Institute (GMI), now Kettering University, in Flint.

Bruce was a proud 1957 graduate of the University of Michigan, where he also earned his master's degree. His relationship with his students was deeply impactful, not just from an education perspective, but in life. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and thousands of students. He is survived by his wife, Gaeyle; four daughters, Erika, Barbara, Shira, and Julia; sister Pam; stepbrother Paul; three stepdaughters, Angel, Amy and Hannah; and 13 grandchildren. A small celebration of life will be held at Genesis Boyne on October 9, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Bruce loved the Lord Jesus and animals, and in lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Genesis Boyne or a local Humane Society are appreciated.
