Carla Rae Bischoff

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved Carla Rae (Boening) Bischoff, of Petoskey, MI. She entered the path to eternal life, surrounded by her family on Sunday April 14, 2024, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 69.

From Carla’s early to mid-teens, she spent countless hours practicing for the figure skating competitions at the Petoskey Winter Carnivals, where she received a great number of awards for her incredible talent. She absolutely loved being on the ice and was an amazing performer.

Carla also enjoyed camping, knitting, movie night, roller skating, loved music and especially loved family night with her children.

She had the biggest heart of all, a smile that would light up a room and a laugh that was contagious.  She just adored her family and friends and would literally do anything for anybody, even for people she barely knew.  She had a true heart of gold.

Her many years waitressing at Filmore’s in Petoskey led her to meet the love of her life, Mike Bischoff, who eventually became her husband of 17 years. Mike and Carla married in 2006 and raised their combined families together.

She is survived by her husband, Mike, of Petoskey; children, Tarrel (Stephanie) Lewis, Mica Lewis; stepdaughter, Andrea Bischoff; stepson, Chris Bischoff; brother, Don (Nancy) Boening; sisters, Chris (Craig) Reyner, Jayne (Mike) Gray; brother- in- law, Bob Bischoff; sister-in-law,  Brenda (Jake) Jacobson; brother-in-law, Gary Bischoff; grandchildren, Tarrel Lewis, Marcellus Lewis, Kayleana Lewis, JT Ager, Hunter Ager, Brandon Gokee, Nicholas Gokee, Kaden Ecker, Alyssa Ecker; and many nieces and nephews.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Joan Boening; her father and mother-in-law, Bill, and Mary Bischoff; brother-in-law Bill (Lewis) Bischoff; and many aunts and uncles.

Our family can't thank the Hospice team enough for the love and compassion they gave to her.

In lieu of flowers, we would like to request donations be made to McLaren Hospice at 1 Highland Dr. Petoskey, MI. 49770
