Carol Sue Stammer

Carol Stammer was born on July 30, 1944, in Farmville, Virginia the daughter of Edward and Helen Welker. Her Heavenly Father called her home on July 17, 2026, due to unexpected medical issues.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald (Rocky); her sisters, Janice (Karl) Osolinski, and Laurie (Terry) Parkin; nieces, Rachel, and Kelly; a great niece, Alyssa; and nephew, Jared. All were close to her heart. Her passing has left a void in many, especially her husband of 58 years.

Carol was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her persona was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Carol met the love of her life, Ron, in 1965, at a dance hall in Detroit. The two were married in Ferndale, Michigan on November 25, 1967. Following Carol's graduation from Clawson High School in 1962, she received her associate's degree from Northern Michigan College in 1995. She had several jobs in her life, but she really treasured her 34 years as a head cook at Cheboygan Area School System. She enjoyed 40 summers of cooking for many families on Mullett Lake. Following her retirement, she volunteered as an aid with Alzheimer's guests at the Sandcastle facility, operated by the Cheboygan County Council on Aging. Her accomplishments were echoed by her favorite bible verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

The family will visit with friends in the gathering space at Cross in the Woods Catholic Shrine from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, with inurnment in the columbarium behind the beautiful cross. A luncheon will follow in the Cross in the Woods Family Center.

Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
