Charles V. Ungerman, 85 of Waters, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Ausable Valley Nursing Home in Fairview. Born on April 1, 1927 in Detroit, Charlie was the son of Charles and Doris (Jackson) Ungerman Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Charlie moved from Mt. Clemens to Waters where he had lived the last 40 years. Self-employed in the construction field, he had been retired for several years. For many years he had enjoyed his vegetable gardens. Charlie is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters Kelly Ann Martin of Phoenix, AZ and Elyse (Dr. Chris) Farnum of Okemos; his stepchildren, Valerie Simmons of Denver, CO, Todd (Andie) Johnston of Marquette, Amy (Jerry) Sisovsky of Grand Blanc, Jay (Tammy) Johnston of Marquette, Jon (Patty) Johnston of Jackson and Bill (Rachel) DeGroot of Gaylord; grandchildren, Christina, Alexis, A.J., Christian, Alan, Kaitlyn, Jessie, Caleb, Samantha, Gary, Sean, Katie, T.J., Heather, Courtney, Shane, Cody, Brandon, Danielle, Taylor, Adam, Mark, Raeann, Parker and Heather; great grandchildren, Peiton, Jordyn, Ryder, Karson, Ryan and Brandon; a sister, Marilyn (Bill) Quinn of East China, MI and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Ungerman in 2010 and a brother, Donald Ungerman in 2012. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Gaylord Funeral & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Ave. with Pastor Thomas Mammoser of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 PM on Sunday.
