Chester T. Pieniozek

Chester Pieniozek of Brutus, Michigan passed away on October 22, 2025 at the age of 88 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Chet was born and raised on the family farm in Bentley, Michigan and graduated from Standish-Sterling High School. He raised his family in Pinconning and upon retiring from General Motors in Bay City, he lived 40 years in the home he built on Burt Lake. He had a lifelong passion for ice fishing and deer hunting and took pride in the log cabin he and his son built by hand in the Upper Peninsula. Chet was able to make or fix nearly anything and enjoyed teaching everyone how to do things right. He was the heart of the neighborhood and knew everyone. He enjoyed mowing lawns, riding his three-wheeler, and sharing garden vegetables and smoked fish.

Chester is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanore “Pat” Pieniozek, his children James (Carrie) Pieniozek and Cheryl (Allen) Houck, and his grandchildren Monica (Ryan) Duren, Andrea Houck, Benjamin Houck, Aaron Pieniozek, and Adrienne Pieniozek. He is also survived by his two brothers Leo and John (Pam) Pieniozek.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Agnes (Ziomek) Pieniozek and five of his siblings and their spouses: Lottie (John) Pilat, Frank (Donna) Pieniozek, Stanley (Kathryn) Pieniozek, Edward (Lillian) Pieniozek, Angeline Pieniozek, and sister-in-law Carol Pieniozek.

Chet will be laid to rest at the Burt Mullet Township Cemetery on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Honoring Chet’s wishes, there will be no public service; he appreciated all the love and friendship in the years prior to his passing. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
