Daniel Arthur Miller, 61, a life-long resident of the Alpine Village, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona. Born on November 25, 1963, in Gaylord, Michigan, Dan was a devoted husband, father, and businessman, well-known for his warm personality and priceless smile.
A proud graduate of Gaylord High School in 1982, Dan continued his education at Ferris State University, where he earned a degree in business finance. In his professional journey he was a co-owner of Northern Energy Inc. with his brothers, a family-owned business that not only provided him with immense pride but also allowed him the opportunity to form deep connections with his employees and community members. On September 26, 1993, Dan was blessed to marry his soulmate, Dolores (Sides), at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. They shared a beautiful life together and created a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew Dan.
Dan recently made the decision to soft retire, a choice that granted him more quality time with the true love of his life, his wife Dolores. Together, they traveled across the country, revisiting cherished sites and forging new friendships along the way. At home, Dan was a dedicated father to his two sons, Daniel and Blake, who he was most proud of. He found joy in sharing interests with them, especially through hunting and fishing—the activities that defined his passionate engagement with the great outdoors of Northern Michigan.
Dan's legacy is characterized not only by his career and hobbies but also by the warmth he exuded towards everyone he encountered. Whether on the ice, in the woods, or just passing through the community, he always greeted both friends and strangers alike with a friendly hello and an unforgettable smile, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends, and the community that he took such great pride in being a part of. As we reflect on his life, we remember not only his professional achievements but the countless lives he touched along the way. Dan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a love for adventure that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of 31 years; two sons, Daniel and Blake; two brothers, David (Jeni) and Doug; brothers-in-law, Bill (Jenny) Sides, Tom (Ann) Legleiter; uncle, Art and aunt, Sharon Miller; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Arthur Miller and his mother, Betty June (Mansfield).
A Celebration of Life gathering to honor and remember Dan will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the K of C Hall in Gaylord.
