David Edward Yarrington

David Edward Yarrington, 69 of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Born in Midland, Michigan on December 27, 1955, Dave was the son of Donald and Norah (Supinger) Yarrington. He spent most of his youth in Midland, later moving to Roscommon and graduating from Roscommon High School in 1974. After Dave married Pamela Johnson in 1980, they moved to her hometown of Gaylord.

Dave worked for many years as a driver at the Otsego County Bus System, and for several years as a delivery driver for Sara Lee.

He was a staple at Gaylord’s Big Boy restaurant, usually stopping there for coffee and meals two or three times a day. He was an avid sports fan, closely following the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and Michigan State University sports. When his three daughters were growing up, he was a fan of Gaylord Blue Devils athletics, especially the softball team. In his spare time, he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds around his home. He was also a history buff.

Dave is survived by his three daughters, Amber Wright of Gaylord, Ashley (Andy) Groters of Gaylord, and Tiffany Yarrington of Farmington Hills; grandchildren, Landon and Ashtyn Groters, and Bella and Olivia Wright; his former wife, Pamela Yarrington; sisters, Gail Johnson, Patricia (Tom) Mahood, and Beth (Carl) VonHinken; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Eric “Rick” Yarrington.

Arrangements for a celebration of his life are pending and will be announced later.
