David Paul Leask, 63 of Gaylord, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.
Born in Cheboygan, Michigan on November 22, 1956, David was the son of Angus Paul “Skip” and Velma Jean (Laurence) Leask. The family moved to Gaylord when David was young where he later graduated from Gaylord St. Mary’s High School. He excelled in playing football and baseball where he was a member of the Gaylord Little League Hall of Fame.
On January 30, 1976 David married Phyllis A. Gahn in Gaylord. They raised their three children in Gaylord where David worked for 37years at Purchase Sales as a truck driver and freezer manager.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed passing these skills on to his children. Hunting and fishing often included not only his children, but their friends as well. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and camping. Casino trips with his family and friends were frequent and he also enjoyed his collection of knives, guns and other items. David was also an avid reader; he particularly enjoyed history.
David is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 44 years; his three children, Mindy Leask, Desirae Leask and Joshua Paul (Kenna) Leask, all of Gaylord; grandchildren, Holley, Tristan, Carson, Lyla and Kennedy Leask; sisters, Julie (Tim) Wells of Johannesburg, Karen (George) Saddler of Kalkaska and Mary (Ray) Owen of Williamsburg; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma; his dad, Skip; his step mother, Betty and his youngest sister, Lori Ann Myers.
