Delores May (Jozwiak) MacGregor 91 of Roscommon, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Delores May (Jozwiak) MacGregor was born to Dora Samkovak and Frank Jozwiak on February 2, 1935, at home in Vanderbilt MI. She was raised from two weeks old by her Grandparents Cecelia Jozwiak and Ernest McKenzie. In her early teens, when her grandmother's health declined, her uncle and aunt. William and Jane Jozwiak, moved to Vanderbilt to take care of Delores and her grandmother. Delores remembered fondly their kindness to her.
She graduated from high school in Vanderbilt in 1953, attended Bay City Business School and Lansing Community College. June 4, 1955, she married John MacGregor also of Vanderbilt. They shared almost 63 years of challenging wonderful togetherness, until his passing May 6, 2018. Delores supported John throughout his career with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, from his early work in fisheries to his position as Deputy Director of Region 3 here in Roscommon. They moved 18 times, with Delores finding and buying the houses on numerous occasions. She made many friends along the way and enjoyed their years in Roscommon. She was a 50-year member of the First Congregational Church. She participated in activities associated with State Employees and their Retirees group. Delores stayed true to her upbringing of always being grateful for any kindness, she always repaid - usually in multiples. She was confident, strong-willed, fiercely independent, a perfectionist. An avid reader and an excellent baker, she generously shared many delicious baked goods.
Their son Douglas Martin MacGregor, of Vanderbilt, was born in Traverse City Feb 17, 1965, and grew up in Roscommon. He survives her. She is also survived by her half-sister, Linda (Farrand) and husband Steve Magey of Macomb Twp; sister-in-law, Shirley (MacGregor) Bifoss of Gaylord; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, parents, and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her half-sister, Earlma (Farrand) Laznich and husband Chuck, brother-in-law, John Bifoss, brother-in-law Robert Douglas MacGregor and his wife Mildred, sister-in-law Marjorie (MacGregor) and her husband Don Elliott, and nephew Robert Douglas MacGregor II.
