Dennis W. Murphy

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Walter Murphy, beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Born on September 17, 1957, in Redford Township, Michigan, Dennis lived a life full of adventure, love, and laughter that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Dennis graduated from Johannesburg Lewiston High School in 1975, and shortly thereafter married his high school sweetheart, Ranell Myszkier, on September 27 of the same year and moved to Phoenix AZ. Their union flourished over more than 50 years, marked by mutual support and deep affection. Together, they welcomed their only child, Abby, in August 1980. Dennis gave the gift of life and, Mya was born in July 2012. Dennis took immense pride in being a devoted father, always ready with a listening ear and a loving heart.

His career was as varied and vibrant as his passions. After beginning as a truck driver, Dennis ventured into owning and operating several grading, paving, and excavating companies in Northern California. He found contentment in his role as a heavy equipment operator for the county of Sacramento landfill until he decided to retire and return to his cherished roots in Michigan.

An avid lover of the great outdoors, Dennis enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and motorcycling, often sharing these wonderful moments with family and friends. His passion for life extended to classic cars, with his pride and joy being a 1967 Pontiac LeMans convertible that was the epitome of his adventurous spirit.

Dennis also found joy in bringing happiness to others, taking on the role of a professional Santa Claus. He cherished the moments spent with children, listening intently to their wishes and spreading holiday cheer.

Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Ranell Murphy; his daughters, Abby (Adam) and Mya; and granddaughter, Annabelle Clair; brother, Pat Murphy; in-laws, Roger Myszkier and Ruthann Galbraith.

Dennis was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Marion Murphy; and siblings, Jim and Mike Murphy, and Donna Schoen.
