Donald W. Sutton

Donald Wayne Sutton, 84 of Petoskey, passed away on November 27, 2025. Born on December 4, 1940, in Charlevoix, Michigan, he was a proud graduate of Charlevoix High School, completing his education in 1959.

Donald served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, stationed in Germany. During his military service, he earned honors as a sharpshooter and was honorably discharged, reflecting his commitment to duty and excellence.

Donald was deeply engaged in his local community, exemplified by his long-standing dedication as a volunteer firefighter with the Springvale Fire Department from 1976 to 1998. His contributions were marked by a selfless commitment to the safety and welfare of others, and he is remembered fondly by those who served alongside him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Acelia (Moore); daughters, Susan (Mark) Knodell and Sarah (Luke) Bundy; grandsons, Jack and Peter Knodell, Holden and Wyatt Bundy; brother, Arthur (Pat) Sutton; sisters, Wanda Barraw and Donna (Jerry) Himebaugh; sisters-in-law, Jean Sutton and Hermenia (LeRoy) Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rockliff and Arvilla Sutton; brothers, Richard and Andrew Sutton.

A celebration of life gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Springvale Fire Department.
