Donald E. Hartman, 80 of Cheboygan, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Born on June 27, 1940 in Wakarusa, Indiana, he was the son of Earl Willis and Margaret Irene (Shriner) Hartman.

After moving to Michigan and graduating from Pellston High School, Don attended Western Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Education.  He taught school for a number of years before pursuing his passion for farming in northern Michigan.  Well known for his strawberries and apples, he also operated a cider press on the farm.

Don was very active in his church, Life Worship Center in Cheboygan.  He enjoyed singing, gardening and travel with his wife, Lynda in their motor home.

He is survived by Lynda, his wife of over 15 years; Lynda’s children, Susan Orge of Washington, DC, Leila Orge of North Carolina, Michelle Orge of Green Bay, WI and Kimberly Orge of Phoenix, AZ; three grandsons; a brother, Dennis (Linda) Hartman of Kalamazoo; and three nieces.  His parents, Earl and Margaret “Irene”, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Life Worship Center, 901 W. VFW Road, Cheboygan, MI  49721.  The family will visit with friends at the church beginning at 6:30 PM.  Fellowship with coffee and deserts will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the church, designated for missions.
