Edward P. “Pete” Beckman, 61 of Gaylord, died at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Born in Saginaw on September 13, 1952, Pete was the son of Paul and Barbara (Hedrich) Beckman. He was a resident of Chesaning for much of his life and a longtime meat cutter at Peet Packing Company in Chesaning. On September 20, 1991 Pete married the former Karen Sigmund. They resided in Chesaning until moving to Gaylord in 1996. Pete was a member of the Gaylord Eagles and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and his many friends. He will be remembered for how he treated others. His nieces, nephews and friends were all family to him. Surviving are his wife, Karen; sons, Joshua (Michele) of Owosso and Nicholas of Chesaning; grandchildren, Mackinzy, Murphy, Ferguson, Marcellus and Logan; his mother, Barbara of Chesaning; brothers and sisters, Gerald (Julie) of Oakley, Robert (Lenore) of Chesaning and Barbara (Chris) Wenzlick of Owosso; his father in law, Harlan Sigmund of New Lothrup and his many nieces, nephews and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his father, Paul; his mother in law, Judith and nieces Mary and Jessica. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Wisconsin Street Hall, 610 S. Wisconsin St. from 2:00-4:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood St. in Chesaning. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the family. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home, 850 N. Center Avenue.
