Born in Reed City on July 5, 1949, Betty was the daughter of Homer Wesley and Nona Louise (Struble) Bailey.  When she was a child, Betty and her family moved briefly to Grand Haven and then to Spring Lake.  She was a 1967 graduate of Spring Lake High School.

Betty lived in Nunica and worked at Peoples Bank in Grand Haven.  It was during this time that she met Frank L. Kemp.  They were married in Fruitport on August 22, 1981.  Shortly after their marriage, Betty and Frank moved to Gaylord.

Betty was strong in her faith and devoted to her church.  She also enjoyed flower gardening and being outdoors.  She found enjoyment in riding the 1949 John Deere tractor she and Frank have.  Since 2000, Betty and Frank have enjoyed traveling in their RV.  She especially enjoyed wintering in Texas and Florida.  Her family will remember her love of singing Karaoke.

Betty is survived by Frank, her husband of 38 years; her son, Jim (Sarah) Kimball of Cape Coral, FL; a granddaughter, Shaneice Lahaie of Cape Coral, FL; and several of Frank’s nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie Bailey and brothers, Robert and Bruce Bailey and by an infant son, Joseph Edward Kemp in 1982.
