Emile James Bolen, 63 of Gaylord, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.
Born March 7, 1960, in Watseka, Illinois, he was the son of James and Wilma (Doan) Bolen. Emile, also often known as Jim, grew up in Lansing for several years before the family moved to Gaylord. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1978.
Shortly after graduating, Emile enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After an honorable discharge, he moved to Grand Rapids where he worked for Meijer, and then to Mackinac Island where he worked as a cook. Later, he moved back to Gaylord and worked for a time at the Otsego Club. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Emile was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a sister, Jean Doan, and a brother, David Bolen. Also surviving are several cousins, including Eric (Kimberly) Clink of Gaylord; they have been close to and very helpful to Emile during these last few years.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
