Floyd J. Rypkowski

Floyd Joseph Rypkowski, 83 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Born in Gaylord on December 9, 1938, he was a lifelong resident, the son of Walter and Sophia (Wieworski) Rypkowski.

On July 3, 1985, Floyd was married to the former Gail Boughner.  They always enjoyed getting together with family and friends and, in retirement, they enjoyed their time together spending winters in Florida.

Floyd worked many years as a mason with Grant’s Masonry in Gaylord.  In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and camping.  He enjoyed watching most sports and was a lifelong Detroit Tigers and Lions fan.  Known to have a competitive streak, he also enjoyed playing Euchre.  Often he could be found watching old western movies and Michigan Outdoors or listening to country music.  Floyd was a member of the Gaylord Eagles and Elks.

Surviving is Gail, his wife of almost 37 years; his daughters, Lynn (Jim Baker) Moore of Gaylord and Susan (Todd) Hancock of Boyne City; grandchildren, Lyndsey (Steve) Miller and Taylor Hancock; great grandchildren, Maddex and Bohdi Miller; sisters-in-law and their husbands,  Nancy (Terry) Larsen of Gaylord, Diane (Bob) Cilwa of Bath and Dorothy (Brian) Krupiarz of Gaylord; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Annie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Betty Ann Moyer.

In keeping with his wishes, his family will remember him privately.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter, 256 Fairview, Gaylord, MI  49735.

Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.  Please share your memories and personal messages with the family at www.gaylordfuneralhome.com
