Grace V. Colpean, 74 of Wolverine, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.

Born on December 30, 1946 in Saginaw, she was the daughter of Thomas and Neva (Pemberton) Sackrider.

On August 19, 1967 Grace was married to James Colpean.  They lived for many years in Bay City.  In recent years, she moved to Wolverine.

Primarily a stay home wife and mom, Grace especially enjoyed her role as “nana” to her grandchildren, and to many of their friends.

Over the years she worked at times as a bartender and assisting her husband at the party store, they owned.  She worked last as a home healthcare aide.

In her spare time, she enjoyed annual trips to Florida and shopping.  An avid shuffleboard player, she was a former league champion.  She attended Hope Lutheran Church in Indian River.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Tina Anderson of Bay City, Sharron (Allan) Gingerick of Wolverine and Brande Sparks of Bay City; grandchildren, Amanda (Ricky) Black, Robert (Gina) Sparks, Michael Prime, Matthew Colpean and Elisa Sparks; many great and great great grandchildren; her sister, Rose (Richard) Henderson of Saginaw; brothers-in-law, Edward Colpean of Saginaw, and James Riethmeir of Wolverine and her close friend, Sharron McShane.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Colpean; her parents, Thomas and Neva Sackrider; her daughter, Brenda Sparks; and sisters, Sally Riethmeir and Thelma Parkman.

The family will visit with friends from 3:00-7:00 PM Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 29, 2021.  Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Wolverine.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hope Lutheran Church in Indian River.
