Grant James Powers

Grant James Powers, 86, born June 8, 1940, life-long resident of Gaylord, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2026.

Grant is survived by his wife of 66 years, Teresa Powers (Koronka), his children, Teri Powers, Panama City Beach Florida, Randy Powers (Donna), Fredericksburg Virginia, grandchildren, Jason Wolf, Bradenton Florida, Jamie McCurley (Bryan), Panama City Beach Florida, Danielle Knezic (John), Chesterfield Virginia, Scott Powers (Cortney), Aldi, Virginia and eight beautiful great grandchildren.

Grant was a highly skilled brick/stone mason, who built his business through dedication, craftsmanship, and incredible work ethic. His reputation for quality work was so well known that even after retirement, friends and neighbors continued asking him to take "just one more job." Grant was deeply proud of his family and treasured watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments and happiness. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved Labrador, Duffy, who was his constant companion and best friend until he crossed the rainbow bridge many years ago. When Grant wasn't working he loved the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Grant will be remembered for his strong hands, kind heart, and sense of humor as well as the lasting foundation he built-not only in brick and stone, but in the lives of those who loved him.  His legacy lives on in the family he raised, the values he instilled, and the generations who will continue to carry his love, strength, and spirit forward.
