James J. Reinhardt

James J. Reinhardt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 91 in Gaylord, Michigan. Born on April 27, 1934, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Jim lived a life rich with experience and achievement, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love.

After earning a Bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Jim embarked on a successful career as a general manager in the industrial electronics industry. His passion for innovation and leadership propelled him forward, earning him a respected place in his field. Yet, it was his true commitment to his loved ones and community that defined him most profoundly.

On December 29, 1979, Jim married the love of his life, Linda Myers, at the picturesque Pigeon River Station in Vanderbilt. Together, they forged a beautiful partnership filled with shared memories, laughter, and love. Throughout their years together, Jim often reflected on the joy he found in family life, enriching the lives of his four children.

A man of many interests, Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, cherishing wilderness trips with his father-in-law and dear friend, Jerry Myers, affectionately known as “Mr. Pigeon River.” They created lasting memories on the shores of the Canadian Algoma train route up to milepost 122, where fishing expeditions culminated in fresh-caught dinners under the stars. He embraced the wonders of nature and passed this love on to those around him.

In his heart, Jim was also a devoted golfer, known affectionately as the family’s "golf Pro". His retirement allowed him to share his golfing passion with family, friends, and especially his treasured great-nephew, Tanner Catt, whom he guided through the intricacies of the game. He proudly served as a golf course Ranger at Treetops, where he turned golfing into a joyful gathering of community spirit.

Jim's generosity extended beyond his home; he was honored as the “Volunteer of the Year” for his impactful service to the community. As an active member of the Gaylord United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity, he dedicated countless hours to improving the lives of others, infusing his community with kindness and love.

He cherished his many companions—his cherished dogs, Casey, Riley, and Bella, who brought boundless joy to his life alongside Linda.

Jim leaves behind a profound legacy in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His warmth, spirit of adventure, and commitment to family and community will always be remembered, creating ripples of love that will last for generations to come.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 45 years; his four children, Sheri (Ron) Zelek; Robert Reinhardt, Vicki Kamerer, Michael (Jillian) Reinhardt; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond Reinhardt; sister-in-law, Janet Sieting, and nephews, Glen B. (Gwen) Catt and Chris (Jessica) Catt.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Margaret Kade, John Reinhardt and Conrad Reinhardt; and his brother-in-law, Terry Sieting.

No service is planned at this time. Family memorials will take place at Pigeon River.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pigeon River Country Association, https://pigeonriverdiscoverycenter.org/donate/ or to the Gaylord Methodist Church, PO Box 617, Gaylord MI 49734.
