Janet Fay Pearson

Janet Fay Pearson, 88, of Gaylord, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at The Brook.

Born on January 21, 1938, in Petoskey, Janet was the daughter of Helen and Gil Coon. She grew up in Boyne City, where she met her high school sweetheart, William Pearson, whom she married in 1958.

A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, followed by both her Master's degree and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree. Janet dedicated much of her professional life to the Gaylord Community Schools, serving as a dedicated teacher and administrator. Her unwavering passion for education touched countless lives and fostered a love of learning in her students.

Janet was known not only for her impressive accomplishments but also for her resilience, warmth, and loving spirit. She cultivated a life rich in meaningful relationships and cherished the joy that her family brought her. Janet often expressed that her greatest pride came from her children and grandchildren, whose successes filled her heart with happiness.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Val (Chad) Impellizzeri; her son, Brian (Lori) Pearson; her grandsons, Spence Impellizzeri, Cameron (Gabby) Pearson, and Austin (Bailey) Pearson; three great-grandchildren, Mack, Hayes, and Brooks Pearson; and her sister-in-law, Judy Coon.

Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and deep love for family will be etched in the memories of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Pearson, and her brother, Gary Coon.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
