Jeffrey David Collick

Jeffrey D. Collick, 59 of Gaylord, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Trinity Health in Ypsilanti.

Born in Dearborn, Michigan on March 23, 1967, he is the son of Joan (Griggs) and David Collick. Though he was born with disabilities, Jeff embraced a life filled with curiosity and resilience. He was a lifelong learner, spending many meaningful years in the Waterford School District and Gaylord Alpine Workshop. He cherished time with his family and friends and formed lasting bonds throughout his life. He deeply valued his years at Petoskey House, where he shared friendship and community with fellow residents and staff.

Jeffrey had a deep love for sports and found great joy in cheering on his favorite Michigan teams and participating in athletic activities. He proudly earned many Special Olympics awards over the years, a reflection of his determination, spirit, and love of competition. He enjoyed collecting sports cards, and especially loved baseball and horses. He was happiest when horseback riding. Jeff enjoyed life up north and worshiping at Gaylord Methodist Church.

More than anything, Jeffrey treasured time spent with his family at Big Lake. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his joyful presence, and the happiness he brought to those around him.

Jeff is survived by his mom, Joan (Griggs) Collick of Gaylord; brothers, Brad (Susan) Collick of White Lake, MI, and Tom (Heather) Collick of Silver Spring, MD; nieces, Riley, Peyton, Emery, Sydney, and Julia; aunts, Delores Griggs of Vanderbilt, MI, and Judy (David) Pohlod of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas and Marjorie Griggs, and beloved pets BiBi, Jelly, Doc, and Maizey.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Gaylord Methodist Church where visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions in his memory to Gaylord Methodist Church or the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
