Jerome A. Stephenson

Jerome A. Stephenson, 93 of Brutus, passed away Wednesday, December 28,

2022, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. Born in Detroit,

Michigan on April 11, 1929, he was the son of Melvin and Myrtle (Maul)

Stephenson.

Jerry was raised on the family farm in Harbor Beach Michigan where he

graduated from high school.  After graduation, he left the farm and lived in

Port Huron, where he met the love of his life, Noreen, and they were married

July 20, 1950. After their marriage they settled in St. Clair Shores where they

lived and raised their family.  They were blessed with a son, Michael, and a

daughter, Jeannie.  Road trips across America with their young family were

memorable, especially Yellowstone Park.  The farm years were always

special to Jerry, which were shared by frequent visits and stories often told to

family and friends.  Jerry was employed at the City of St. Clair Shores for 33

years where he retired as Superintendent of the Water Department.  After

retirement in 1983, they moved North to Burt Lake.

Jerry enjoyed many years of fishing, snowmobiling, and caring for his

beautiful yard and gardens.  He was an avid reader. He loved meeting and

talking with people, along with helping in any way he could.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 72 years, Noreen (Hill) Stephenson; two

children, Michael Stephenson of Boyne City and Jeannie Stephenson of

Ponshewaing; grandchildren, Gretchen Cleary (Mark Crump) of Petoskey,

Kristopher Cleary of Ponshewaing; great-grandchildren, Ava Barlock and

Olivia Crump of Petoskey; sister, Dorothy Elliott and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bethany Chesney.
