Jimmie Ray Oliver

Jimmie Ray Oliver, 76 of Waters, passed away at home on Friday, April 8, 2022 with his wife and daughters at his side.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 10, 1946, he was the son of Talmadge and Aubrey (Trayler) Oliver.  A high school graduate, Jimmie also attended college for two years.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, he returned home and began a career as an industrial equipment mechanic with Ford Motor Company.

On August 6, 1971, Jimmie was married in Detroit to Georgette Poster.  They began a family and raised two daughters, Stacie and Stephanie.  After retiring, Jimmie and Georgette moved north to their home in Waters.

First and always a family man, Jimmie was a dedicated husband and father who always took care of his family.  He loved spending time with them and he enjoyed interacting with his grandchildren.  He was also a lifelong avid fan of the Detroit Lions.

Jimmie is survived by Georgette, his wife of more than 50 years; his daughters, Stacie (Michael) Lamp of South Lyon and Stephanie (Tonya Hoghe) Oliver of Britton; grandchildren, Cody (Heather) Hollingsworth, Jordan Hollingsworth, Austin (Alica) Hollingsworth, Hannah Lamp and Quinn Lamp; and a great granddaughter, Ari Hollingsworth.

Jimmie’s family will remember him privately.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America (MPVA), 46701 Commerce Center Drive, Plymouth, MI  48170 or online at www.michiganpva.org/support/online/
