Joan Ilene Mullins

Joan Ilene Mullins, 87 of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Medilodge of Gaylord.

Born October 23, 1939 in Troy, Michigan, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ann (Davies) Kather. Joan grew up in Troy, Michigan and graduated from Troy High School in 1957. She furthered her education at Oakland Community College, receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing.

On October 4,1959, Joan was married to Robin W. Mullins at United Methodist Church in Troy. They raised their family and lived in Lake Orion for many years. As a busy wife and mom, Joan also worked as an LPN at GM in Pontiac and Hospice of Michigan. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Orion.

Joan and Rob later moved to Gaylord, where they lived in the Michaywe community for several years.

In her spare time, Joan enjoyed living on the lake and taking care of her children and grandchildren and having a glass of wine while playing cards.

Joan is survived by Rob, her husband of 68 years; her children, Vicki (Dewey) Anderson, Wayne (Judy) Mullins, and Roger Mullins with the grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) Vilwock, Jaclyn and Joy, Brianna, Amber, Jacob and Rachael; and great grandchild, Bryce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ann Katherine Cathers, Brothers Ed and Robert; and sisters Kathleen and Nancy.

A celebration of Joan's life will take place in Spring of 2026.
