JoAnne Lorraine (Thompson) Tembruell, 40 of Manistique, passed away in Petoskey, MI, on November 1, 2023.
She was born in West Bend, Wisconsin, August 27, 1983, and moved north as a toddler, to Cooks, MI, where she lived until she was married. Jojo played basketball in junior high and high school and was involved in 4H and the youth ministry at school and Foursquare Country Church. In the fall she enjoyed deer hunting and as spring came along you could find her in the maple trees helping to make maple syrup. Being second oldest of five children, she loved “mothering” her younger siblings. She was a great big sister. She loved playing with them and caring for them. She graduated from Big Bay de Noc High School in 2001.
After high school Jojo moved to Gladstone, about an hour from home. There she met and in 2005, married the love of her life, Kyle, and together their greatest accomplishment was parenting their son Malachi. She loved spending time with him, and they loved playing board games, going to the beach, going to the movies, or just snuggling on the couch or in bed watching TV. Jojo was an awesome cook and loved to cook for anyone who needed to be fed. She could make anything taste amazing! She loved hanging out with her family and friends and traveling all around the United States because of the military. She made many lifelong friendships wherever she lived. She will be missed by so many people.
Aside from being a stay-at-home mom, Jojo worked as a secretary at a preschool and did substitute teaching at St. Francis in Manistique. She also enjoyed helping others in starting their businesses. She had the kindest, most unselfish soul, always thinking about others before herself.
Jojo is survived by her son, Malachi John Tembruell; her father, Brian (Connie) Thompson, and mother, Kelly (Wayne) Silkworth; siblings, Sarah (Travis) Murk, Chelsea (Timothy) Pierce-Thompson, Brian Thompson II, Bryce (Cecilia Ruiz) Thompson; aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews including 2 great nieces; and numerous cousins to whom she was very close.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Harvey and Peggy Gray, Earl and Shirley DeMars, Roger, and Marilyn Nohr; mother, Deborah Gray, and stepfather Dave Kane; cousins, Danny Brodzellar and Nick Peck.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Inwood Township Hall in Cooks, Michigan, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, 1:00 PM.
