John Edward Doud, Jr.

In loving memory of John Edward Doud, Jr., who passed away peacefully at the age of 68. Born in Lincoln Park, Michigan, on May 13, 1958, John was the cherished son of John Edward Doud, Sr. and Marian Doud along with his two brothers and two sisters. John graduated from East Jordan High in 1977.

John's journey also included serving in the Navy for a four-year term, a chapter that instilled in him the values of discipline and camaraderie. He often reminisced fondly about his time in service, sharing stories that reflected his commitment and love for country. On November 16, 1991, John married Theresa Doud of Petoskey, in East Jordan Baptist Church. Together they raised their son, John Stewart.

Throughout his life, John was known for his infectious sense of humor and a goofy personality that could light up any room. He had a particular love for animals, especially dogs, which led him to support Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, a charity that held a special place in his heart. John spent many fulfilling years working as a cook in various establishments, bringing joy to those he served with both his culinary skills and warm spirit. For the last nine years of his career, he served as a dedicated security officer at the Odawa Casino, where he established many lasting friendships.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marian (Burlington) Doud, Sr., siblings, Jeremiah "Joe" Doud, and Neta Doud.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Theresa Doud, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage, and their son, John Stewart Doud, along with daughter-in-law Lauren, and two beloved granddaughters, Gabriella and Brianna; his siblings, Charles Doud and Dolores Rogers.

John's legacy will be celebrated at a memorial service on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey, 501 E. Mitchell St. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.

In honoring John's spirit and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him, we remember a man who embraced life fully and loved his family beyond measure. He will be profoundly missed, but his laughter and light will continue to resonate in our hearts.
