John Michael Mania

John Michael Mania passed away April 1, 2026, at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey following a sudden illness. At his side was his wife of 42 years, Nancy (Ingalls) Mania.

John was born March 30, 1958, in Petoskey, the son of John V. and Audrey Mania. He attended school at St. Francis elementary and Petoskey High School, graduating in 1976. After attending North Central Michigan College he studied music at Central Michigan University for a time.

John loved music and studied the organ, often playing at St. Francis Church. He also was an avid reader and cat lover, a passion he shared with Nancy.

He met his wife when they both worked at Northern Michigan Hospital, where he sterilized surgical instruments. The two were married on September 3, 1983, at St. Francis Church in Petoskey. He was a dearly beloved husband, son and brother.

John is survived by his wife, father, and sister and brother-in-law, Kim and
Robert Kronberg of Petoskey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey.

Those wishing to honor John's memory are invited to contribute to the Emmet County Humane Society or Brother Dan's Pantry in Petoskey.
