Joseph C. O'Brien

Joseph C. O’Brien, 77 of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born on January 4, 1946, in Detroit, he was the son of Christopher and Helen (Ritter) O’Brien.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Parks) O’Brien; his sons, Joseph (Shannon) O’Brien of Sterling Heights and Sean (Christie) O’Brien of Lewiston; special grandchildren, Laura, Angelina, Logan, Alyssa, and Gabriel; a great-grandson, Keegan; his sister, Marilyn O’Brien of Fraser; sisters-in-law, Audrey Parks of Lewiston and Carol Schlaich of Macomb; nephews, Kyle and Cameron Hackenberger both of Macomb; cousins, Carolyn and Jim Leary of Warren, Ron and Maureen Kuznicki of Wixom, Brian and Georgina Leary of Macomb, and Joe Jaster of South Lyon.

For 25 years, Joe worked as a Police Officer in Detroit. He was the family’s reliable handyman in any situation. He enjoyed camping, car shows and spending time with his family. He loved traveling with Joyce, going out west to the mountains and traveling Route 66 three times. He worked at Lewiston True Value Hardware for 14 years where he enjoyed helping and talking with customers.

The family will remember him with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4086 Salling Street, Lewiston, MI, on Saturday, June 17, at 11 AM
