Joseph Alexander “Joe” Burns, age 58, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away at 10 AM on Thursday, April 8th, 2021.
Joe was born on July 17th, 1962 in Petoskey, Michigan, to his loving parents Florence and Robert Burns, the sixth of eight children.
He was known for his great sense of humor, outgoing personality, strong will, and amazing stories. All of these traits held through to the very end.
He attended Boyne City Public Schools and went on to be a hardworking welder. Joe was a caring and protective father and husband who supported his family all the way to the end. Joe always had strong interests in hunting, NASCAR, antiques and firearms. He built up a great collection from all of his hobbies. He loved nature, often deer hunting and picking mushrooms every chance he got. He went on many trips with his family over the years, including to the Mall of America in Minnesota, Virginia Beach, Cedar Point, Ocean City, Maryland, Florida, Maine and Oregon.
He was sadly preceded in death by his mother, father, and half-brother, Bobby Burns. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Burns; his children, Charles (Paige) Brannon, Rose (Justin) Burns-Stolt, Joseph (Gage) Burns; his many siblings, Tim (Carolyn) Baker, Mary (Jeff) Miller, Rose (Mike) McCaig, Bonnie (Jerry) Newman, Vera (Norman) Baker, Sue (Roger) Nichols, Robin (Mike) Richards, Jim (Teri) Baker, and Dan (Marilyn) Baker; his grandchild Izac Burns; many other close friends and loved ones.
It was Joe’s wish to be cremated. A memorial will be held at 1 PM on Friday, April 16th at Jordan Rivers Church (text Cindy @ (231) 838-6185 for address or to RSVP).
