Judy Marie Follette-Barnes

Judy Marie (Haddix) Follette-Barnes, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on March 16, 2026.

Judy was born on May 17, 1946, in Boyne City, Michigan, to Lowina (Simons) Hulsey and William "Bill" Haddix.

Judy was known for her generous spirit and her lifelong dedication to helping others, especially children and those less fortunate. She was a devoted member of her community and served on the Boyne City School Board for 12 years during the 1980s and 1990s, giving back to the community where she was raised.

Judy began her career as a key-punch operator in 1974 and went on to retire from Great Lakes Energy in 2002.

In 2007, Judy married the love of her life, Kenneth "Ken" Barnes, and the two shared nearly 19 wonderful years together.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Billie Jo Smith; nephews Michael Haddix and Brian Simons; and her husband, Carlton Follette.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Kenneth Barnes; her daughters, Kerri Bowen and Stacy Gay; her grandsons, Andrew (Jamie) Stead and Trevor Bowen; her great-grandsons, Oliver and Wesley Stead; her sister, Patricia Dean; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on April 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Free Methodist Church in Boyne City. A luncheon will follow.
