Kathleen Leone Skowronski, 73 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Woodland Acres in Gaylord.
A lifelong Gaylord resident, Kathy was born at Otsego Memorial Hospital on April 27, 1952. She was the daughter of Calvin “Red” and Lillie Bell (Moorehead) Simpson.
While attending Gaylord High School, Kathy met Dwain A. Skowronski, who attended St. Mary High School. They both graduated in 1970 and married at St. Mary Catholic Church on October 28, 1972.
Kathy and Dwain have lived their life together in Gaylord, raising their two sons, Mark and John. A busy mom of two boys, Kathy also found time to share her talents through her work. She worked at Glen’s Market, Nelson’s Drug, Otsego Memorial Hospital, Reptron Manufacturing, and finally at Meijer where she worked at the service desk. Many still remember their friendly encounters with her in this position.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed sewing, quilting and tending to her beautiful flowers. She also had a fondness for feeding, watching, and listening to the birds around their home. She enjoyed trips to antique and resale shops, watching the Tigers play baseball on television, Sunday drives, and numerous trips with Dwain to visit family members or enjoy the scenery.
Kathy was a loving wife to Dwain; a devoted mom to Mark (Sarah) Skowronski, and John (Sandra) Skowronski, both of Gaylord; and she loved being a grandma to Cal, Nona, Oliver, Adalyn, Isla, Tripp, and Harrison.
One of seven children, Kathy is also survived by her siblings, Lawrence (Elaine) Simpson, Charles (Sheila) Simpson, Judy (Dennis) Fuson, Carla Niles, Gail (Mike) Dibble, and Alfred (Jackie) Simpson; and her many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Kathy’s family will visit with friends from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where a memorial service will follow at 11:00AM.
Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Parkinson’s Support Group at Otsego County Commission on Aging or Hospice of Michigan.
