Laura M. Derkatz

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Laura M. Derkatz, a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and grandmother, on August 13, 2021. She left us while surrounded by her family.

Laura was born on July 20, 1967 in Petoskey.  She was the daughter of Jonathan and Judith (Bonnett) Morrow.

Raised primarily in Wolverine, Michigan, she moved to Texas where she graduated high school.  Laura moved back to Michigan to share her life with her loving husband Tom.  They were joined in marriage on September 23, 1999 and together made a loving home for their family in Wolverine.

She was the beloved mother of Dan E., Desiree, Seth and Wyatt and the proud grandmother of Gabbie and Hazel. She will also be missed by her parents, Judi and Jon Morrow.

Laura had worked for many years at Farm Bureau Insurance in Gaylord.

She made her family her entire world and she was blessed in her last days to see her son Wyatt get engaged to Brianna Watt. This made her extremely happy as she instilled strong values in her family that have served them well.

Laura was such a big spirit. She came from a very large and loving family that cherished every day with her and she loved the special time with her children and her granddaughters.

Laura was a wonderful woman that will be dearly missed and will live forever in our hearts.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Dairy Barn in Wolverine.  Those who wish are asked to consider a memorial contribution in Laura’s memory to the charity of your choice.
