Linda S. Harris

Linda S. Harris, 72 of Alanson, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Born on March 25, 1948 in Bay City, she was the daughter of Leonard and Hazel (Wixon) Steffey.  She moved to Pellston in 1969.

Linda did many things throughout her life.  She was a school bus driver, she ran a party store, worked as a waitress in a restaurant, in an AFC home as a caregiver, and at a bank.  Since 1995 she and her husband, Al, were the owners of Harris Bookkeeping and Tax.

She will be remembered by those who knew her as a mentor, counselor and a shoulder to cry on.  Linda was a living example of “pay it forward”, always doing for others.

She was an animal lover who especially loved dogs and taking the time to feed the many birds, squirrels and other wildlife around her home.

On June 29, 1974 Linda was married in Pellston to Lloyd Allen “Al” Harris Jr.  He preceded her in death on June 11, 2020.  Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Harris, Shaun Nowland, Kristi and Chris; grandchildren, Dylan Nowland and Alaina Daniels; sisters-in-law, Lois Harding and Rose Steffey; several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Ethel Howard; and special girls, Melissa, Lani & Sherry; brother-in-laws, Michael (Jennie) Harris and their family, Jon (Kathy) Harris and their family; Sister-in-law Kate “Cis” (Phillip) Daniels and their family, Deborah Harris and her family.

In addition to Al, Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nancy Daniels and brothers, Leonard and Albert Steffey.

A soft hello with a gentle touch,

Along with the way you loved so much,

The way you laughed and sometimes sigh,

The hardest thing is to say goodbye,

Your heart so big, full of love and care,

This time here sadness fills the air,

A beauty like yours was one of a kind,

I wish we could just one more time,

Such a pure woman, perfection at its best,

Now may you lay your beautiful soul to rest.
