Margaret Ann Hamilton Greer

Margaret Ann Hamilton Greer of Gaylord, MI moved on to her final home with her Lord on April 8, 2024.  She thrived as she lived for the Lord, and benefited beautifully, for Him, herself, and others, from the time she came to know Him, through the rest of her days.

Mrs. Greer attended Blue Mountain Girls College in Tennessee and Baylor University in Waco, TX.  She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Elementary Education.  It was at Baylor she met the one love of her life, William Bryan Greer, DDS.  She taught school during the early years of their marriage, assisted her husband in his dental practice in Memphis, TN, served as a missionary to Ibadan Nigeria, West Africa, for three years, with her husband and 3 children, and again enjoyed teaching school in Albuquerque, NM, until the age of 80.

As an accomplished pianist, Mrs. Greer enjoyed playing the piano, and organ, in a number of churches in Memphis, TN along with their church in Ibadan, Nigeria.  She was an avid reader, keeping the library in Gaylord, MI busy with securing books for her, with much love in her heart for the library staff.  Her favorite book above all was God’s word which filled her soul on a daily basis.  She also enjoyed word search books, puzzles, and knitting.  In years past she made over 40 quilts and needlepointed rugs with small and large tapestries.

She was a modern daily influencer, in her own right, as a great prayer warrior.  She prayed daily, for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, along with many others on this earth.  Being in touch with God, and praying through her days, fulfilled and sustained her.

Her favorite verses were John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life” and Isaiah 41:10; “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

She is survived by her children, Janita Ann Greer Bailey of Gaylord, MI, (Bruce) of Gaylord, and Philip Bryan Greer of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Pete Greer of Memphis, TN, Lindsey Ann Heath of Ashburn, VA, (Fred) of Ashburn, VA, Terra Greer Hart of San Clemente, CA, (Alan) of San Clemente, CA, Megan Greer Hansen of Los Banos, CA, (Michael) of Los Banos, CA, Hamilton Reed Greer of Fort Worth, TX, (Maggie) of Fort Worth, TX, Alexander Greer of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Bailey Marie Heath and Taylor Ann Heath of Ashburn VA, Archibald William Hart and Virginia Grace Hart of San Clemente, CA; Aubrey Hansen of Los Banos, CA and Emory James Greer of Fort Worth, TX.

She was preceded by her best friend and husband, William B. Greer, DDS; parents, Joseph F. Hamilton, MD, and Ruby Lynn Williams Hamilton; one son, William H. Greer; one brother, Joseph F. Hamilton, Jr., MD and one sister, Virginia Hamilton Phillips.
