Marvin Weber

Marvin George Weber, born on December 14, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at home in Boyne City, Michigan. He lived a full and active life, dedicated to family, friends and education.

Marvin graduated from Taft High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force, Korean war, before going on to further his education at Michigan State University. He earned a BS in Biology degree and an ME degree in Counseling and Education. At MSU he met the love of his life, Judith Warren. They were married in 1959.

A distinguished educator, Marvin dedicated 37 of his 40 year long career to Helen Keller Middle School in Royal Oak, Michigan, retiring in 1995. He was a guidance counselor and science teacher. He was well liked by the students he worked with. His impact on education will be remembered by many.

In addition to teaching, Marvin was an avid sports enthusiast. He served as a Little League and Middle school Baseball coach for over 15 years. He shared his love of the game with his children and other young athletes by helping instill the values of dedication, fun and sportsmanship. A proud member of the Michigan State University Freshman Baseball Team, Marvin had the honor of walking on as a catcher, something he was very proud of. He knew every statistic about and loved the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed watching them and was glad to see them clinch the Wildcard spot this summer.

Marvin and Judith settled in Union Lake (Commerce Township) Michigan in 1962 and stayed there until 2002. In retirement, Marvin and Judith were “snowbirds” and enjoyed the beauty and warmth of Panama City Beach Florida during the colder months. There, they were blessed to meet their cherished “circle of friends”. Summers were spent at the family cottage near Hubbard Lake, Michigan. Marvin was an active golfer/golf league member in both Michigan and Florida and played until the age of 93!

Marvin was an accomplished gardener. He loved working in the yard, nurturing flowers, plants and growing amazing vegetables. He loved feeding the birds, especially the hummingbirds, and kept the squirrels fat and happy.

Of all the accomplishments he achieved, his marriage and family were what made him most proud. He actively supported all aspects of his family’s lives. Whether it was a ball game, play, graduation, or wedding; any event, good or bad, he was always there. He was present.

He leaves behind his daughter, Kerry Weber; granddaughter, Marley Boone (Lennon Kyriakoza); grandson, Noah (Ashlee) and great-granddaughter, Lucy Boone; daughter-in-law, Colleen Weber.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Weber in 2012 and his wife Judith in 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, McLaren Hospice-Petoskey, or the American Heart Association.
