Michael Edward Coonrod

Michael Edward Coonrod, 73 of Gaylord, passed away peacefully on Monday June 8, 2026, at home with his family by his side. Born May 20, 1953 in Gaylord. The son of Donald Sr. and Leona (Williams) Coonrod.

He was proud to call Gaylord his home. Michael graduated from Gaylord High School in 1971. He went onto work for Georgia Pacific until they closed. He then worked at Wal-mart in the toy department, he loved putting bikes together.

A man of strong faith, Michael was deeply devoted to Crosspoint Church until his health would no longer allow him to attend. He found great pleasure in playing guitar, and singing with his church praise and worship team. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he loved sharing it with others. In his younger years, he also enjoyed photography and could often be found with a camera in his hand, snapping pictures of special moments with his family.

Michael found his greatest joy with the people he loved the most. He enjoyed watching westerns on television and treasured his time spent watching grandchildren grow. His love for his family was steady and enduring.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Sharolyn of 33 years, their children, Nicholas, Sarah (Troy) Oberlin and Brea Webb. Mike's former wife Anida Inman, their children, Shannon (Theresa) Coonrod and Justin Coonrod. Mike's former wife Debra Einkorn, their children, Nicole (Philip) Lompra, Joshua (Nicole) Coonrod, Jamison Coonrod. Mike's step-sons, Daniel (Sara) Sevenski and Gabriel (Andrea) Sevenski.

His grandchildren, Ashton, Ty, Cade, Daniel, Katelyn, Michael, Trenton, Griffin, Taylor, Teagan, Olivia, Adrain, Eva, Isla, Gavin, Onnalee, Sawyer, Avery, Corbin, Riley, Sterling, baby Oberlin and seven great grandchildren. Michael's siblings, Bernie Coonrod, Cathy (Larry) Sullivan, Karen Woodward, Donald Jr. (Deb) Coonrod, Carol Coonrod and Danny (Judy) Coonrod. Michael's mother-in-law, Juanita O'Rourke, sister-in-law, Lorelei (Michael) Hunt, brother-in-laws, Joseph (Hilda) Tazelaar and Donald (Tracy) Hanson.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Donald Coonrod Sr., his daughter Olivia Fay and his brother-in-law, Rodney Woodward.

Michael will be remembered for his faith, his music, his love of family and many memories he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will take place 12:00 pm Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where the family will visit with family and friends beginning at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
