Nicholas R. Coburn

Nicholas R. Coburn, 37 of Gaylord, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Born on July 1, 1985, in Flint, Nick was the son of Lisa (Laviolette) and Michael Coburn.

In Nick’s younger days, he and his sister, Nicole, were in Karate together where they were both one test away from becoming a black belt. Nick’s greatest joy in life and his number one buddy was his son, Maverick. Nick was a cook for the Iron Pig, a tattoo artist at Sindicate Tattoo both in Gaylord and he worked at MEC as a Machine Operator in Vanderbilt.

He is survived by his special son, Maverick Coburn; his mother, Lisa (Erik) Pearson of Gaylord; aunts and uncles, Richard (Daiquiri) Laviolette of Durand, Scott Laviolette of Davison, Michael Laviolette of Lake Orion, Claudia Brown of Traverse City, Jerry Coburn Jr. of Cumins and George Gibson of Saginaw; nieces and nephews, Laxington, Londyn, Emma, Kevin, Alicia, and Nathan; and the love of his life, Shannon Peek.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nicole Coburn; his father, Michael Coburn; maternal grandparents, Ida and Eugene Laviolette, and Anne Pearson; paternal grandparents, Jerry, and Irene Coburn; and his aunt, Kathy Sparks.

A memorial gathering will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
