Pastor Dale Alan Hammond

Dr. Dale Hammond, long-time pastor of the First Baptist Church of Frederic, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 14, 2026. Dale was born on March 9, 1948, in Grand Rapids to Samuel Hammond and Vivian Alyea Hammond. He married the former Judy Harvey on December 20, 1969, in Muskegon.

Dale enjoyed going to garage sales with his wife on their summertime Friday dates. He was especially happy when he found an old film camera with the film still in it, which he would develop himself.

Dale was a very loving husband to Judy, and he had a wonderful sense of humor which carries on through his children.

Dale will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, his six children-Tamara (Greg) Rickard, Rachel (Wilman) Araque, Benjamin (Lori) Hammond, Jeffrey (Karen) Hammond, Betsy (Anthony) Pelkey, and Kate Carlson, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Charlene Swanson, and sister-in-law Lynne Hammond, brother-in-law Randy (Dina) Harvey and sister-in-law Kathy Peoples and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Ed and Wanda Harvey, his brothers Cecil, Harvey, and Samuel Jr., sisters-in-law Janice and Beverly, and brother-in-law Charles Swanson.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church on Friday, the 17th, at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM.
