Patricia Ann Marple, 89 of Gaylord, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village. Born in Pontiac, MI., on July 24, 1936, the daughter of Sidney and Rita (Borden) Silvis.
As a dedicated homemaker, Patricia poured her heart into nurturing her family and creating a welcoming home for all. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and her ability to bring comfort to those around her.
Patricia's life was a testament to strength and devotion, qualities that will continue to inspire her family and friends. A proud Native American woman, she embraced her heritage and shared her culture with those dear to her. For many years, Patricia was involved at the Gaylord Methodist Church, active in the choir and women's group. She sang in church choirs until she was 85 years old. She enjoyed golfing in the beauty of Northern Michigan. She loved nature and music and enjoyed that combination in attending the Porcupine Music festival yearly. She loved her home in Gaylord and entertaining friends and family there. She was a fabulous baker. She loved knitting and stitching and especially gifting those to others.
She had a passion for writing poetry but only when inspired. She was often inspired by her faith and several poems were published in the Church bulletin.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Vallad-Hix (Michael Nord) of Houghton, MI, Kimberly (William) Gregus of Davison, MI and Susan Roberts of Gaylord; grandchildren, William Edington, Robert Hix II, Jessica Hix and Jeremy Hix; great-grandchildren, Connor Seigrist and Caleb Edington. She had a special relationship with her sister, Debbie King and cared for her summers when she was young. She was loving and supportive to Shelba Marietta and Dave Elts. She had especially good relationships with her friends from Church and the neighborhood, some of which were living with her at Aspen Ridge and with Rev. Naile and his wife Myrna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Marple; her son, Gerald Vallad and her grandson, Terrence Edington.
A memorial service will take place July 25, 2026, 11:00 AM at Gaylord Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Patricia will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otsego County Commission on Aging or to the Disabled American Veterans.
