Patty J. Berlin

Patty J. Berlin, 87 of Gaylord, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Born in Hillsdale, Michigan on May 23, 1938, Patty was the daughter of Donald H. and Anna P. (Hamilton) Daglow. She grew up in Cambria and graduated from Reading High School in 1955.

Patty and Charles “Chuck” Berlin were classmates and high school sweethearts, together for 71 years. Chuck served in U.S. Army for two years and after his discharge, they were married in Reading on July 7, 1957.

Patty attended cosmetology school in Hillsdale and worked as a beautician in Hillsdale while Chuck attended Hillsdale College. After they started a family while living in Hillsdale, Patty enjoyed her role as a stay-at-home mom.

In 1971, the family moved to Gaylord when Chuck accepted a position at Gaylord State Bank. Patty was involved in the Gaylord community as a volunteer with the kid’s schools, in their church, and with Women of Rotary.

Years later, when the kids were grown and Chuck retired, they stayed busy with family and community. They enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona for 23 years, and other vacation travel throughout the United States.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Anna; a daughter, Pamela S. Duczkowski in 2017; and her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Florence Daglow.

She is survived by Chuck, her husband of 68 years; her children, Brad (Dee Dee) Berlin of Gaylord, and Lisa (Bryan) Hilbert of Plainwell; her son-in-law, Jan Duczkowski of Gaylord; four grandchildren; a sister, Gloria McClellan of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord.
